Silent Auction

The final big event of the 2016-17 school year is just around the corner: Showcasing the Arts! This evening highlights the talent of our students with performances by band, drama, orchestra, and choir, and visual arts displays. There is also a silent auction to raise money for the fine arts department.

We need your help filling our classroom Silent Auction themed baskets! Below is a link to a sign-up genius filled with ideas for this theme. Simply choose the item(s) you would like to donate and sign-up!

Remember, the more money raised to support our Fine Arts Department through Showcasing the Arts, the more money the PTSO will have available from the rest of the annual budget to continue funding for training, educational supplies, online subscriptions, and all the other ways we support the school.

When we work together and pool our resources, the results are remarkable.  Please choose an item on the sign-up genius list and support our fine arts department.

Mark your calendars for Friday, October 21 from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. Copies of the halloween-flyer2016and mms-pit-youth-waiver were sent home with your student. Please fill out and return as soon as possible.

SEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS GOING ON THE SOUND TO SEA TRIP NEXT WEEK SHOULD TURN IN THEIR PERMISSION SLIPS AND COMPLETED WAIVERS THIS WEEK BEFORE THEY LEAVE.
Last year’s Halloween Party was attended by over 300 students! It is impossible to pull off this kind of event without volunteers.

2. Phoenix Fund Drive – DONATE TODAY!!
Did you know that $8,000 of what is raised for the Phoenix Fund is used to send our teachers to the IB training that sets our school apart from other IB schools in the state? Many IB schools only have one IB-trained instructor for each subject. It has been the commitment of our PTSO and Dr. Nutting to send EVERY teacher at Mount Mourne to IB training. This is a key component for creating that IB environment and culture that makes our school so special.

3. Turn in your BOX TOPS!
It’s time to turn in those Box Tops for Education that you’ve been clipping and saving! There is a collection box outside of the Media Center. Please have your student drop off your family’s box tops in a sealed ziploc baggie BY OCTOBER 21!
4. Phoenix Luncheon – November 14

Mark your calendars now! The PTSO will be hosting its first Phoenix Luncheon on Monday, November 14 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Trump National Charlotte in the Lakefront Ballroom. The luncheon will feature speaker Michelle Icard from www.michelleinthemiddle.com who will help you learn to THRIVE not just SURVIVE during your child’s middle school years.

 

Tickets to the luncheon can be purchased for $25 in advance or $35 at the door. Seating is limited, so be sure to order your ticket(s) soon!
